Homestead Retreats

Psalm 23 Camp provides work and homestead training experiences for Christian schools and church groups. These retreats at Psalm 23 Camp will provide a variety of work experience that includes some time spent on land and facilities at the farm/camp, plus hands-on training with various homesteading activities. These retreats are limited to a minimum of 16 participants and a maximum of 24 to give a more favorable experience for each person. The learning experiences will be coordinated with the normal spring season activities during the months of March and April.

The following is a list showing possible work/training activities:

    • Care of sheep during lambing season

      Sheep are kept near barn for March Lambing and put indoors at night

    • Fences for control of livestock and poultry
    • Fences for protection of poultry
    • Fences for protection from deer, rabbits and other critters
    • Small fruit production (strawberries and blueberries)

    • Management of dwarf, semi-dwarf, and trellis fruit trees
